"Making Memories, Making Memories. Taking Pictures is Making Memories..."

"...Catching little pieces of time. Making them yours, making them mine!"

Like I mentioned earlier, I have a new printer that allows me to scan photos and share them here with you! That being said, I am posting photos for all the family and friends to see. Hopefully I can provide the family with some nice memories from days past.

How's your day going? Already today I've (1) given Stacy a bath, (2) cleaned the bathroom after said bath, and (3) Lemon Pledged the wood furniture in the living room, family room, and parent's bedroom... and it's only 12:19. Phew!

Have you gotten your holiday shopping done? I've already blown through my christmas spending money and have now made my way to my birthday money. I hope I spend wisely and get some useful things, like the printer. I remember one December several years ago, we were sitting around watching the news and a commercial for the new Sonicare Spinbrush came on...

Me: Hmm... can I get that for my birthday?
Daddy: Of course. A wise investment: dental health.
Me: o_o

He was right, though. That brush kept my teeth nice and sparkly for years. I've not used it for a while since I've had my braces and they made my teeth especially sensitive. Now that I'm almost done with my last set once and for all, I'll probably go back to using my electric brush. I've missed the squeaky clean feeling it leaves in your mouth.

What was I doing? Oh, right. Photos! Whelp, here we go:

And there we have it for now... Now to look for the remaining photo albums. I'm off to find them! Toodles :)

Trip to Dallas (The Bubble) 2011

Okay, two posts in one day sounds a little obsessive... but I just now remembered that I TOTALLY FORGOT to write about my trip to Dallas with Becky!

We travelled to Dallas and immediately headed to Southlake Town Centre to meet with my beloved Clurr-Burr! The three of us ate lunch at The Cheesecake Factory and she and I did some catching up, then I started choking so she and Becky got to know one another while the world around me darkened. Then I was fine.

I forgot to mention that we went to Dallas on the last weekend of the State Fair and it was packed with people. We got our parking spot then walked forever to the main entrance, bought some tickets, then headed towards the cars and fried foods. Thank goodness we stayed clear of the Midway. I'd be playing skeeball all day. Like God in the movie Dogma, I'm a real skeeball enthusiast.

We went to the car show they had going on there and got a look at the newest models and different concept cars. The Chevy section even had a presentation with Bumblebee from Transformers! I was so excited and pushed my way to be close to him. I know he's a car and I'm talking like he's real, but to me he is. Pardon my obsession, but that show was my -ish when I was growing up!

Later, we found all the fried foods and tried a limited variety of foods. Some foods sounded amazing so we ate them. Other foods sounded absolutely disgusting, so we stayed away. We indulged in the fried oreos, fried pumpkin pie, and Becky alone tackled the fried pineapple upside down cake. She said it was quite delicious. I had recently been under the weather so I tried to eat as little fried foods as possible... said the girl who ventured to IHOP at 1am immediately after the State Fair to get fried chicken tenders and fried mozzarella sticks and french fries. I disgust myself sometimes.

Decisions, decisions...

FRIED OREOS!

Omnomnomnom...

Takin' a big ol' bite outta the fried pumpkin pie

Fried Pumpkin Pie :)
At one point, we were in search of the wine sampling area in an effort to get into a drunken stupor but we got sidetracked when we happened upon a room full of bunnies. Becky, an avid bunny lover, went gaga over them, so we looked at all the adorable bunnies. They were indeed cute and fluffy and everything awesome about bunny rabbits. If given the chance to do it over, I'd pick bunnies over wine.

After the wine failure and bunny win, we went to see a dog show where a blonde lady, 3 giant dogs, a teacup chihuahua, and a dog that looked remarkably like my Stacy when she was a young sprout performed tricks on motorcycles and hula hoops. It was pretty amazing. Later, we ventured to the animal 'zoo' which was basically a bunch of caged farm animals that were asleep for the most part... lame.

Following the animals, we walked to an area that promised us some European clog dancing... but when we got there, we learned that the performance had been cancelled but luckily some spanish dancers were available to entertain. It was a great display. There was one lady who seemed to have a hard time with the choreography and it was evident she had only recently learned the dances, but she pulled through. After the dancing, there was a parade that I missed on account of having to pee badly, and after the parade, there was a light show. Immediately following the light show, we hauled ass to the main stage to get front-row spots for a performance by The Bangles. I LOVED The Bangles as a kid. As a matter of fact, my Aunt Janie used to play their song 'Manic Monday' to calm me down after my parents had left for work on Mondays. I guess me being a baby and having to be separated from my parents was a contributing factor to my Mondays being quite manic. Of course they saved their biggest hit for last and everyone proceeded to Walk Like An Egyptian. I was in 80s music nostalgia heaven. If WHAM! or The Go-Go's or  Bananarama or Depeche Mode had come out, I would've surely shit my pants. It was incredible!

With that, the night was over. Or so we thought. At Becky's suggestion, we walked out the gate behind the stage, far from the parking lot in which our adventure began... and in which our car was patiently waiting for us to return. We got directions to the tram and after a free ride, we realized that it was the wrong parking lot we were wandering in, so at 12:00am we were walking around one of the sketchiest parts of Dallas all alone with barely a soul around. We managed to get into another tram and it left us as the foot of a small hill. On the other side, we would find our parking spot, and we did. A trip to IHOP and a late-night showing of Miss Congeniality II later, we were asleep in our comfy hotel beds: Becky IN hers, me ON mine.

The next morning, we went to mass at UD and I gave Becky a tour of the campus. I was feeling quite proud of the bubble at that moment. I showed her the Church of the Incarnation, Anselm (my old home), Catherine (my first home), the Art Village where we played sardines with her older brother one year, the old priory filled with asbestos and drunken memories, Seminary Hill where downtown Las Collinas and downtown Dallas can both be seen, and of course Aslan the Lion. She also got a good tour of Haggar and a view of my sanctuary, the science building, from outside. We then proceeded to the Dallas Zoo to take advantage of my free parking-entry-monorail. After the zoo, we got in the car and drove to the second nearest McDonalds, got food and headed home to Houston. Needless to say, it was an amazing adventure. Here's to many more!
